FIFTH DREAM PARALLEL

FIFTH DREAM PARALLEL

Ongoing Project since (February 2018)

FIFTH DREAM PARALLEL is a project borne of nostalgia, storytelling, and to feature production unlike my main projects.

Originally starting as ECHO LAYER, a new given by Virtual Self-era Porter Robinson, FIFTH DREAM PARALLEL originally started as a character in the 2018 ARG era of my earliest Discord server, Komorebi City, used as a catalyst to continue the story by becoming a rebellious AI working against the system of characters introduced—all as a way to tell the depths of the story of PARANOIA FUTURE_DATA.

In the beginning, it was only creepy and distorted audio clips with no obvious meaning but ominous looming subtext (you can find an archive of these on the Peaceful Defiance account). Though I don't completely remember a lot of it—largely due to how much has changed in-univserse by now—it drew interest to the project as a whole and it so happened to be well-timed with my experimental period of working on more distorted and nihilistic music (i.e. Embers and the other FDP works of the time). Eventaully, I released a remix under the FDP name and officially launched the project.

MOMENTS (FIFTH DREAM PARALLEL REMIX) | February 22nd, 2018

For years, I only really utilized FDP as a project to release edits of other music through—Ilyuexio, SINK TO THE DEEP SEA WORLD, and Duvet, notably—but never properly worked on original music for it. I'd always wanted to, but never really could. Of course, that considers how I was working on albums through the years that brought me away from that style—until releasing Sunrise Roadshow as World's Last Garden.

io:Repeat | All Nighter vol. 1 | August 6th, 2018

By 2024, I only released two original songs: Divine Presence, and io:Repeat (as apart of All Nighter vol. 1 through FORM). Over 7 years, I only mustered making nine songs, all of which were the entirety of what I made. Disappointingly, there is next to no unused music as part of the FDP project—practically everything I have made, in some capacity or another, made it out in the form of live sets or into Eternal Everlasting.

Thankfully, Eternal Everlasting as an album is something I am very fond of. I liked the turnout of the entirety of the tracklist, and it felt like they were in the oven for an adequate enough of time (barring that some were 4+ years old). Of course, post-release, I worked on SPECIAL RANK, both of which now are available on streaming platforms.
